IPL 2025 to Resume on May 17, Six Venues Finalised; Grand Finale on June 3: BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will resume on May 17, after a mid-season break due to the general elections across the country. The league stage and playoffs will now be conducted across six venues, with the final scheduled for June 3.

The decision was finalized after multiple high-level meetings between BCCI officials, franchise representatives, and local authorities, keeping in mind logistical concerns, player safety, and travel restrictions during the elections.

✅ Six Venues Chosen

The BCCI has shortlisted the following six venues for the remaining matches:

  1. Mumbai (Wankhede Stadium)

  2. Chennai (MA Chidambaram Stadium)

  3. Ahmedabad (Narendra Modi Stadium)

  4. Kolkata (Eden Gardens)

  5. Bengaluru (M. Chinnaswamy Stadium)

  6. Delhi (Arun Jaitley Stadium)

These cities were chosen based on stadium availability, ease of access, security arrangements, and previous experience of hosting high-profile matches.

️ Fixtures and Final

The remaining matches of the league phase will be compressed into a tight 17-day schedule from May 17 to May 29, followed by the playoffs. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played on May 30 and 31, while the Qualifier 2 will take place on June 1. The final will be held on June 3 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Tight Title Race

Before the break, the 2025 IPL had already witnessed some gripping action with teams like Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals showing strong form. The mid-season break came just as the playoff race was heating up, and now teams will return fully recharged for a final push.
